The Cabin

Captain's Cabin sits on Main Road in Saldanha, a short walk from the water — close enough that the harbour is part of the view and the seafood does not travel far to reach the plate.

It works two shifts. Through the day it is a family restaurant: seafood, sushi, grills and curries, coffee on the deck, kids at the long wooden tables. After dark it turns into a cocktail and sports bar, with the Tiki-Bar open, the big screens on and live music on the calendar.

There is rooftop seating upstairs, tables out on the deck and the bay across the road — which is why so many people end up staying a lot longer than they planned.

It has become one of the West Coast's natural gathering points — bike clubs on a Sunday run, birthday tables that spill across the room, locals who have been coming for years and holidaymakers who find it once and come back.

The Restaurant

Seafood off the West Coast, sushi rolled fresh, ribs and steaks off the grill, curries, pasta and burgers. Long tables, deck seating, coffee all day.

Driftwood, carved masks and a painted beach that never clouds over. Cocktails, draught and a corner of the Cabin that does not take itself too seriously.
